Patrick St Pauls' art at The Other Art Fair 2011

I met with David Roux-Fouillet at the Andipa Contemporary, in 162 Walton Street in London. After seeing his show called Morphoses, I made up my mind that he was the perfect person for me to talk about in discussion with amazing and award winning Rosemary Laryea on “Silvia Krupinska’s Artist of the Month” slot on Colourful Radio (on Nov 24th 2011 at 12.10 pm). I absolutely love his work, and I have to admit he is one of the most talented designers/artists I’ve met. If you missed the live slot, you can listen to it again here.

David Roux-Fouillet Biography

David was born in 1978, of Danish and French parentage. He received his first training from the Engelsholm Hojskole in Bredsten, Denmark, where he studied jewellery design, glass blowing and graphic design. This was followed by a degree in jewellery and object design at the Haute Ecole d’Art and de Design in Geneva, Switzerland, where he was awarded the Marsee prize in 2003. This was followed by an invitation to participate in the KUAD Artist Residency at the Kyoto University of Art and Design in 2004, where he studied fashion and space design. His most recent degree was a Masters at the RCA in London, where he studied Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork & Jewellery. During this period, Roux-Fouillet was nominated for the Arts Foundation Product Design Fellowship, was commissioned to create an installation for the London flagship store of Harry Winston, and was awarded the
Conran Award and Theo Fennell Award for Overall Excellence from the Royal College of Art.

This is a sculpture to lighten up this fundraising season and have a bit of a laugh. It dates back to when I was maybe 6-10 years old, back in Slovakia, Poprad. Made from stuff you boil in water, and then it was painted. And after some fun, why not to check out this collaboration. Would you like to help? Do you have any suggestions? Tell us please, leave comment below if you like.

Unique opportunity to buy my “Organic Golf Balls” sculpture. If you have been thinking you like my work, and would like to get a start up piece, this is your chance for a limited time only. I’m reducing the price from £300 to £100. The price will go back to £300 after the promotion. The raised funds are going towards the shipping of “New Golden Seed” flying off to OCCCA in LA. This is where the offer can be found -

Organic Golf Balls sculpture is 26 cm across, on wooden board, made with golf balls and recycling in mind.

I was waiting for the last two weeks to find out, which art work the curators chose for the London Calling exhibition in OCCCA museum in Santa Ana coming this Christmas time. The day came, and I’m delighted to send my New Golden Seed off. This wall sculpture is made from mixed materials including artificial and real human hair, cement, wood, glue and paint. It is in line with the Hair Series - Hair and Dust Painting was the first of the series, followed by adventurous New Golden Seed and The Red Seed.

DREAMING EUROPE – REAL EUROPE in Essen 6.11.- 4.12.2011

It wasn’t that long ago, that I was posting these on my website:

EU–Art–Network commission : I am very pleased to announce I’m currently working towards the EU–Art–Network symposium which will take place in Linz, Austria, between 20th and 30th August. The event is part of the Linz—European Capital of Culture 2009 programme and it will be a very exciting opportunity for artists of all EU countries to come together and produce artworks which will then form an exhibition touring major cities of all those countries for two years. Check back often for news and pictures of this event and my artworks!  26/07/2009

Back from Linz!   I’ve just returned from EU–Art–Network symposium, Linz 09 where I produced two sculptures over 10 days. It was a very intense and exciting experience to work towards the deadline of the opening of the exhibition in Traun City Gallery, just outside Linz. The turnout for the private view surpassed all expectations and one of my sculptures (Cocoon 2) was sold, while the other will be part of the exhibition touring Europe for two years (next stop: Venice!). It was great to meet and work alongside so many excellent European artists and I hope to have the possibility of participating again next year! See my Portfolio and Links pages for photos and more details. 06/09/2009

More exhibitions: Venice and Eisenstadt were the last cities visited by the touring exhibition of EU-Art-Network Symposium, Dreaming Europe – Real Europe, featuring one of my sculptures. In Venice it was part of La Biennale 2009 and took place in the Palazzo Albrizzi between 24th October and 23rd November and in Eisenstadt, capital of Burgenland, Austria, it happened between 29th October and 15th November. More news to follow as the exhibition continues its journey through Europe and I hope to be present at some of the Private Views. 20/11/2009

Today I’m happy to say the exhibition is extended now to another country, Germany. “DREAMING EUROPE – REAL EUROPE” will take place in Essen’s Forum Kunst & Architekur between 6.11.- 4.12.2011 and my “Cocoon I” will be part of it! Please, if you manage to get there, send me some images. I’d be grateful. Thanks and all the best, Silvia.
