I’m here in Baku. I’m typing from my grand hotel room in the centre of the town and thinking, the generosity of this nation is amazing. I was travelling from London with an artist from Wales, Andrew Evens. I’ll introduce Andrew in more detail very soon. I’m full of positive thoughts and feel like a princess in a foreign far culture. The buildings are somehow different, I’ve never seen architecture like that before. I’m waiting to find out, what the rest of I see is like. Later on this evening catching a flight to Gabala, where the exhibition will be held. I’m hoping to have time to post images as well. That is all for now, I’m off to see some sights in Baku. Have a great day and more blogging from Azerbaijan coming soon. : )

I was waiting for the last two weeks to find out, which art work the curators chose for the London Calling exhibition in OCCCA museum in Santa Ana coming this Christmas time. The day came, and I’m delighted to send my New Golden Seed off. This wall sculpture is made from mixed materials including artificial and real human hair, cement, wood, glue and paint. It is in line with the Hair Series – Hair and Dust Painting was the first of the series, followed by adventurous New Golden Seed and The Red Seed.

DREAMING EUROPE – REAL EUROPE in Essen 6.11.- 4.12.2011

It wasn’t that long ago, that I was posting these on my website:

EU–Art–Network commission : I am very pleased to announce I’m currently working towards the EU–Art–Network symposium which will take place in Linz, Austria, between 20th and 30th August. The event is part of the Linz—European Capital of Culture 2009 programme and it will be a very exciting opportunity for artists of all EU countries to come together and produce artworks which will then form an exhibition touring major cities of all those countries for two years. Check back often for news and pictures of this event and my artworks!  26/07/2009

Back from Linz!   I’ve just returned from EU–Art–Network symposium, Linz 09 where I produced two sculptures over 10 days. It was a very intense and exciting experience to work towards the deadline of the opening of the exhibition in Traun City Gallery, just outside Linz. The turnout for the private view surpassed all expectations and one of my sculptures (Cocoon 2) was sold, while the other will be part of the exhibition touring Europe for two years (next stop: Venice!). It was great to meet and work alongside so many excellent European artists and I hope to have the possibility of participating again next year! See my Portfolio and Links pages for photos and more details. 06/09/2009

More exhibitions: Venice and Eisenstadt were the last cities visited by the touring exhibition of EU-Art-Network Symposium, Dreaming Europe – Real Europe, featuring one of my sculptures. In Venice it was part of La Biennale 2009 and took place in the Palazzo Albrizzi between 24th October and 23rd November and in Eisenstadt, capital of Burgenland, Austria, it happened between 29th October and 15th November. More news to follow as the exhibition continues its journey through Europe and I hope to be present at some of the Private Views. 20/11/2009

Today I’m happy to say the exhibition is extended now to another country, Germany. “DREAMING EUROPE – REAL EUROPE” will take place in Essen’s Forum Kunst & Architekur between 6.11.- 4.12.2011 and my “Cocoon I” will be part of it! Please, if you manage to get there, send me some images. I’d be grateful. Thanks and all the best, Silvia.

Grape Extraction Sculpture and plasticine balls, installation idea for Organicities.

As Organicities approaches in 2 weeks I’m considering how to refresh the installation of my sculptures, especially those that are longing their “natural” environment. To be more specific, I’m talking about “From the Bottom of the Sea Sculptures“. To  make it feel more comfortable, and “like at home” I’m having a go at testing it’s unfinished cousin, plaster ball, immersed in water. There might be even special guests joining, it would be VIF to be precise. To find out more about them, pop in to Debut Contemporary on Saturday15th October 12-5. If you would like to read the press release click here, or for e-flyer click here.

Experiments with the installation of From the Bottom of the Sea Sculpture.

Testing of an unfinished plaster ball in water, is making me think that VIF guests will be coming in! You'll be sure to find out their names on 15.10.11, in Debut Contemporary.

Please join me at my charity event, I’ll be showing my sculptures and presenting latest work, drawing called “Skinny Fly, Krupinskus Redulus Armonus” and it’s short story attached with a voice over. The wings of the fly are made from my own skin. This work is created in collaboration with Jennifer Farmer. There’ll be more art to see from various Artists, collective of Debut Contemporary.

At 1.30 I’ll give a talk about my art and I explain my reasons behind the event.
At 3 o’clock I’ll do a Grape Extraction Technique presentation on a brand new sculpture.

This event is in aid of Skin Cancer Research UK Charity, and we’re going to try to achieve £1000 target. I’ll be donating part from all sales.
This event is work in progress for now, watch out for new grabbing info soon.
Press release will be available on request on info@debutcontemporary.com, or info@silviakrupinska.com.

As promised, I’d like to report back with a bit more detail, about the Hartberg Museum Exhibition- Recycled Art. The main reason, why the Symposium took place, was to make the conceptual art proposals for the coming Recycling Art Festival and to show the people in Hartberg and its surroundings, that recycling materials can be fun. The slogan “Trash-Chance-Idea” and all about the passing of time, were our guide lines. Each of the Artists and Designers approached the topic in a different way. We became a strong, lively group, getting on very well together. We were – Zara Alexandrova, Chris Gossington, Manuela Fritz, Erki Kasemets, Margit Klammer, Christian Kammerhofer, Hertha Wendelin Kovacs, Miss Lata, Iveta Laure, Evelyn Loschy, Wolfgang Luh, Baiba Osite, Pernilla Philip, Kiril Prashkov, Daniela Riedl, Liga Sakse, Dieter Serfas, Luca Zupelli and I, Silvia Krupinska.  I need to mention and say thank you to Margit Nohrer and Manuela Fritz, who were the organisers. The journalists from Radio Hartberg made during the private view this short video and here are their photos.

I had a wonderful time in the city of Hartberg, which charmed me so much; I definitely want to go back in a couple years for the Recycling Art Festival. I miss the people and the food already!

Here is the fully recycled hero ‘Animal’ with its fully recycled ‘Food Tray’ and behind it,  its ‘Poo Tray’ which is all, yes again, made from all-recycled materials found in local Ecopark. (All rights reserved.)
